Scivation Xtend Free BCAAs Supplement

Scivation Xtend Free BCAA Review

In this Scivation Xtend review, we’ll talk about one of the most efficient and cleanest BCAA supplements that we have come across in 2019.

And we’re not talking about the regular version called Scivation Xtend BCAA – one of the most popular branched-chain amino acid supplements in the world for several years in a row.

We’re talking about their newer, much healthier and cleaner version called Scivation Xtend FREE BCAA which contains the exact same active ingredients and quantities as the previous one. Except without all the artificial flavors, sweeteners, and unnecessary ingredients that detract from the supplement’s greatness!

This manufacturer has been in operation since 2004 and has been given many awards by industry critics and in various supplement competitions for their effective and reliable products that provide powerful results fast.

In fact, Scivation Xtend has received the award of Recovery Supplement of the Year in the years 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012 in the United States.

And their newer version of called Scivation Xtend FREE BCAA is even better!

However, let’s not get carried away here – we can say it’s an awesome product even before we start with the review – but it’s not at the very top of our list of the best BCAA supplements on the market.

You can check out where it sits by reading this: Best BCAA Supplements: The Top 10 List.

Our number one spot goes to Transparent Labs BCAA, and for a very good reason!

You can find its full review at Transparent Labs CoreSeries BCAA Glutamine Review and see why. The only downside is that it’s more expensive than Scivation Xtend FREE BCAA.

Finally, before we begin, branched chain amino acids are massively important for the development, maintenance and the growth of muscles, and you can read more about them at BCAA Supplements Guide: The Facts, Benefits and Side Effects.

Countless studies have proven that they increase lean mass, muscle strength, aid in fat loss, as well as help to maintain lean body mass during a calorie restricted diet.

Supplement Overview: What Is Scivation Xtend BCAA?

Scivation Xtend FREE BCAA is an Intra-Workout Catalyst that supports muscle growth and recovery, burns fat, and replenishes your electrolytes after a grueling and long training session.

It contains NO artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners – which is a huge step-up from the previous version that was amazing, but included stuff like Sucralose, Acesulfame-K, and the potentially dangerous food coloring FD&C Red #40.

It also comes in two very distinct flavors – Crisp Apple, and Mixed Berry. Both taste great and only contain Stevie to enhance the flavor – a natural sweetener that comes from a plant and has virtually no side effects when taken by healthy adults.

In fact, we’re super impressed when a manufacturer takes an already fantastic product and improves and revamps it immensely by removing all the unnecessary, potentially harmful, and unhealthy ingredients!

We wish most manufacturers of sports nutrition supplements would follow the path of Scivation Xtend Free BCAA and revamp their best products. Remove such ingredients like Sucralose and Acesulfame-K which are so prevalent in today’s fitness industry.

And the best part is – they did all that without even increasing the price of the product.

Simply an amazing feat, and we take our hats off to the Scivation Team!

You can even combine it with best mass gainersbest testosterone boosters, and also best creatine for men supplements for even better results and faster gains. Women can look to combining BCAAs with best pre-workout for women and best fat burners for women to get maximum results while training.

Now, let’s take a close look at all of the ingredients, and see what makes this supplement stand out.

Analysis of Ingredient List

Scivation Xtend BCAA Free Ingredients List

Let’s take everything step by step:

First off, we have Vitamin B6 at 32% of the daily dose.

It’s not a very significant amount, but it helps with recovery and during exercise as Vitamin B group is massively important for the proper production of energy in the body.

Next up, we have a little Sodium and Potassium. Sodium is a necessary trace mineral but isn’t that great in big amounts – so only 10% of the daily dose is not bad.

Potassium is at 180 mg and plays a role in your body’s fluid regulation.

Both of them come from the Electrolyte Blend which we will explain below.

What follows is the BCAA (Branched Chain Amino Acid) Blend at a whopping 7 grams with a tried and true ratio of 2:1:1.

It contains 3500 mg of L-Leucine, 1750 mg of L-Isoleucine, and 1750 mg of L-Valine.

L-Leucine is arguably the star of the show! It’s the most important essential amino acid when it comes to building, repairing, and maintaining muscle tissue.

In fact, it works as the primary activator for protein synthesis, and without an adequate amount of it, you can spend months and months in the gym without seeing any real or significant improvements and results in muscle gains.

To top that off, it’s also an incredibly potent anabolic agent because it triggers the release of insulin from the pancreas. And then it drives that insulin towards your muscles, where it stimulates tissue repair and growth!

Finally, this branched chain amino acid contributes to the production of testosterone and estrogen in your body.

L-Isoleucine is important but less significant for muscle growth. Its main function is to help with the mobilization and utilization of fatty acids in your body by activating the PPAR receptors that increase fat burning and inhibit its storage.

It also helps with utilizing ketone bodies found in fatty acids and improves cerebral function.

L-Valine is the lesser of all three but still provides significant benefits.

It provides a stimulating effect on the body and helps prevent muscle breakdown. It does this by providing muscle tissue with extra glucose and is responsible for the production of extra energy when you are performing strenuous exercise.

Finally, it helps you train longer and gives you extra endurance by lowering the production of serotonin in your brain during intense exercise, reducing signals in the brain that your body is becoming fatigued.

Most Branched Chain Amino Acid supplements contain only 3-5 grams, and Scivation Xtend FREE BCAA contains a significant 7-gram dose in a proven ration that works!

The next ingredient is L-Glutamine. This “conditionally-essential” amino acid is the most one found in our blood and makes up approximately 60% of all the aminos in our muscles.

L-Glutamine

Studies show that Glutamine is an amino acid that acts as a substrate for protein synthesis and is mostly used during skeletal muscle contraction when we perform intensive physical exercises.

Once it’s depleted, we feel fatigue and loss of power, and can’t perform as well as we could have.

This means that if you want to increase your performance in the gym, and work out for longer, perform stronger, and have more energy in general – supplementation is highly encouraged!

It also helps with muscle recovery after you’re done with your training session!

The 2500 mg dose is pretty decent, but best effects are seen at around 4000-5000 milligrams.

The next ingredient is the Electrolyte Blend, containing Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate, Potassium Chloride, and Sodium Chloride.

As we’ve already mentioned above, this is where the Potassium and Sodium content comes from.

Let us explain exactly why they are incredibly important, particularly after an intense training session:

Minerals such as sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, and magnesium which dissolve in water, form electrically charged electrolytes particles called “ions”.

It is crucial to maintain correct concentrations of these ions inside and outside of cells in the body because they transmit electrical impulses along nerves and are used for muscle contractions.

In essence, these ions are what allows us to perform all the “bioelectrical” functions such as moving around, thinking, seeing – and even maintaining the heart beating.

They also play critical roles in maintaining the body’s pH levels balanced.

At the risk of going too much into the science of it all; human life requires a tightly controlled pH level in the serum of about 7.4 (a slightly alkaline range of 7.35 to 7.45) to survive.

Sodium and Potassium are the most important cations to the regulation of fluid and electrolyte balance in the body due to their abundance and osmotic pressure.

They make sure that you maintain that all-important pH level that keeps your body at its best and healthiest form.

Boy, this Scivation Xtend review just turned into a little science lesson, didn’t it?

The last main ingredient is Citrulline Malate, at 1000 milligrams.

Citrulline Malate

Citrulline Malate is an incredibly beneficial substance that improves performance, helps you fight fatigue, significantly improves recovery, and lessens muscle soreness.

Additionally, it enhances the utilization of branched-chain amino acids in your body and is considered to be the most effective pump enhancer out of any other supplements!

However, the best results for pump happen when the dosage is around 4-6 grams, and this 1-gram dose in Scivation Xtend FREE BCAA, while good, is nowhere near the most effective quantity.

At only one gram, you get the benefits of enhancing the utilization of BCAAs and slightly improved performance – but you won’t see any significant changes in muscle pump and vascularity.

It’s a nice bonus, but it could have been here in a higher quantity!

Lastly, at the point of sounding ridiculous, we have to mention that there’s one gram of sugar in this supplement! It adds to the taste, and when you have sugar in a BCAA supplement, it slightly increases recovery and spikes insulin to help with that.

But the dose is so insignificant that we only think the manufacturer included it to enhance the taste – which is a far better option than adding Sucralose and Acesulfame-K!

There are no known Scivation Xtend BCAA Side Effects because branched chain amino acids are completely safe, and there are no other harmful ingredients here.

  • Good Taste
  • Decent mix-ability
  • Vitamin B6

Cons:

  • Proprietary Electrolyte Blend

We always tell it like it is and have to mention any downside and con that we find, even one as laughable and insignificant as this one.

While we consistently frown on any and all proprietary blends, this one is nothing more than a collection of several minerals that make sure your body functions properly.

We’re just nitpicking here, and there’s nothing unsafe nor unhealthy in this lend – just a mix of various electrolytes.

Our Evaluation of Scivation Xtend FREE BCAA:

Without a doubt, this BCAA product is one of the best in the entire sports nutrition industry, providing you with a massive dose of those all-important Branched Chain Amino Acids and other beneficial ingredients like Citrulline Malate and L-Glutamine – without any of the crap that’s usually found in a bunch of other similar supplements!

Our experience with Scivation Xtend FREE BCAA was nothing short of fantastic, and it was everything we were expecting such a product to be – plus super healthy and safe!

The taste is pretty good, but not super delicious, which is unsurprising since BCAAs are notoriously bitter and sour. The most important thing is that it was easy to get down.

The only way this supplement could be better is if the manufacturer increased the content of L-Glutamine and Citrulline Malate, making them on par with the BCAA content.

But that would mean a higher price and turn the supplement from a pure BCAA product into something else, an intra-post-workout recovery drink.

In any case, we can easily recommend this wonderful, safe, and healthy branched amino acid supplement to anyone who wants to quickly and efficiently gain a lot of lean muscle mass and reach their training goals faster!

It’s great for both beginners and professional athletes, and provides real and reliable results that are hard to beat at this price point!

And here are some other products with excellent prices:

Conclusion

It’s very rare to see when someone takes a nearly-perfect product and improves it even more by removing all the unnecessary stuff and potentially harmful ingredients!

Our stance on stuff like Sucralose and Acesulfame-K is widely known, and we always frown on these ingredients that can wreak havoc on your body’s insulin resistance and blood sugar levels!

Xtend Scivation FREE BCAA is our personal favorite supplement at this particular price point. It is very affordable, and you will have an insanely hard time finding something better at this price!

That said, if you’re looking for something that contains BCAAs but provides more benefits for training, check out <link to Catalyst BCAA> – the only non-pure BCAA supplement that we have on our top 10 list.
